IT IS WITH A HEAVY HEART THAT WE HAVE TO
ANNOUNCE THAT BISYOC 2024 CANNOT TAKE PLACE
The BISYOC Governing Board met on the 26th January to access the progress and planning for the 2024 summer school. After examining the information provided by the organising teams the Board felt there was no option but to cancel Bisyoc 2024.
We understand that this will be disappointing to participants who have already applied, and to the teams that have devoted a considerable amount of time on a voluntary basis to course planning, logistics, fundraising, financial management, travel etc, and we apologise and share your disappointment.
Due to the extraordinary nature of BISYOC that encompasses an interaction of artistic, classical music, social integration and cultural elements, it has been particularly challenging – especially for the fundraising team – to find funding opportunities where we satisfy the requirements and criteria of the charities and funding bodies. There has also been a slow uptake of applications, and the combination of these two elements has left The Board no other option.
Looking to the future, all options for a BISYOC in 2025 are being explored, and The Board is determined to consider all possibilities that will allow BISYOC to go forward. Bisyoc engenders fierce loyalty from participants, tutors and helpers, and we hope to post better news regarding 2025.
